March 2018

Dear Members, Friends & Supporters,

What an exciting time it’s been for our Film Community! New Mexico Film and Television Week was a huge success for all involved. NMWIF’s represented with a sponsored program at the Santa Fe Film Festival and a panel on finding a path forward from the harassment morass that society is mired in. We at NMWIF are proud to take a high-profile stance in advocating for greater gender parity and respect for women. A change is happening and its happening because of all of us.

March will see some more big events for NMWIF starting with our WIFTI Shortcase on Thursday, March 8 at The CCA in Santa Fe at 5:30.  Each year our parent organization, Woman In Film and Television International chooses the best short films submitted by members of its chapters that are shown around the world on International Women’s Day. This year we are proud to be featuring TWO NMWIF winners; last year’s winner, Jean Steven’s film, One Life and this year’s winner, Jody McNicholas’, Retirement Planning. What a lovely coincidence that both filmmakers are from Taos demonstrating that the breadth of our membership’s talent reaches beyond just Albuquerque and Santa Fe. We hope you’ll joins us for the screening of these two films along with some of the other winners from around the world.

March 31 is the afternoon we will be holding what is becoming an annual tradition, our Membership Social and Connecting Party. It will held at a private residence in Albuquerque from 3-6 and it will be a great opportunity for NMWIF members to meet the new Board members, hear from former Board members about where we came from and hear from current Board members where we are going. Most importantly, it’s for you our members to tell us what you want and need and take the opportunity to introduce yourself. You are encouraged to bring business cards, flyers, headshots whatever you may have for spreading the word about your work in the industry. Please RSVP to NMWIFinfo@gmail.com for location and directions.

Finally, we want to remind you of our NMWIF members only actors support group, AHAT! (Actors Helping Actors Thrive) meets in Albuquerque on Thursday evening, April 26 and our Brown Bag Lunch and Learn with Mariel McEwan on March 15 at 11:45. Hope to see you at any or all of these meetings.

Keep Making Media,
Christine
