New Mexico Women in Film invites you to our Santa Fe Brown Bag Lunch and Learn Series (and yes, Bring your Lunch)
WHEN: Friday June 8, noon-1pm (please allow extra time to park and find the room)
WHO: Melissa A. Brownell, 2017 NMWIF Scholarship Winner
WHAT: Melissa will share Lessons Learned working on her new film “Boots of My Brother.” A stage coach rides down the Santa Fe trail pass the Glorieta Pass to Santa Fe, two Civil War enemies clash over a pair of Confederate Boots.
Melissa, a classically trained artist lives in Santa Fe. Her writing and producing career began with publishing her novel, “The Gypsy in Spanish Red”. After pitching the story to producers at the Santa Fe Screenwriter’s Conference the novel interest turned to writing screenplays.
Melissa received her NMWIF Scholarship for producing funds for “Boots of My Brother.”
WHY: this is an excellent way to learn what other members are doing, to meet other members and learn how NMWIF annual scholarship grant programs support projects.

Non-members $5-10 donation (for scholarship grant fund)
A wonderful new opportunity for NMWIF actors. Funds will be used to create a SOL Acting Academy/NMWIF Scholarship.
HOW IT WORKS:
* Perform a 2 minute memorized monologue in the studio
* In front of a major NM Casting Person
* Receive brief, private coaching and filming by Chris Ranney .
* Get written feedback from the Casting Person
* Monologue uploaded to a private secure location
$75 for NMWIF actor/members.
Tickets go live on June 1st. Limited to only 23 slots. Order determined by lottery at the event.
We expect an early sell-out but if spots are not filled by NMWIF members, it will be open to the public.

Smart Device Filmmaking Workshop for Kids

Students aged 13-17 are invited to this Smart Device Filmmaking Workshop presented by Femme Frontera at the David Loughridge Learning Center at Meow Wolf.
Make your own movie! Learn basic shooting techniques, how to light a scene, record sound, and edit your film using only your smart device. Filmmakers Angie Reza Tures (Festival Director, Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase) and Jazmin Harvey (Programming Director, Femme Frontera Filmmaker Showcase) provide a DIY and professional approach to filmmaking in this two-day intensive workshop. The workshop will culminate in short films created by each student.
All levels of experience are welcome! Students must be able to attend both days.
