NMWIF Mission Statement:

New Mexico Women in Film is a New Mexico-based outreach network committed to the professional development and achievement of women in the film and television community through Mentorship, Networking, Education, and Community.

What We Do

Each month NMWIF sponsors a member event on a wide range of topics to help inform and connect our film community. Examples of past panel discussions with leaders in the industry include: Screenwriting, Social Media, Casting, Finance/Budgeting, Crowdfunding, Green Filmmaking and Mentoring. We also bring national and international mentors to New Mexico for workshop events throughout the year.

Women in Film chapters around the world have made numerous PSAs for 501c3 charities and NMWIF is honored to continue this effort in New Mexico. In the past few years, we have produced PSAs for NM Coalition to End Homelessness, the Santa Fe Rape Crisis and Trauma Center, Race for the Cure and NM Dog. This production is paid for through NMWIF fundraising and our members serve as the filmmakers, crew and mentees.

The annual Sage Award was created by NMWIF to honor a person who is dedicated to the 'greater feminine' and active in supporting women in the film and TV industry. We are very proud of our recipients who have received the Sage Awards since its inception: Shirley MacLaine, Lisa Strout, Ann Lerner, Ali MacGraw, Ana Gallegos y Reinhart, Jo Edna Boldin, and Monique Anair.

Our current 2016 Sage Award honoree, Julia Cameron, is the author of more than forty books, fiction and nonfiction, including such bestselling works on the creative process as The Artist's Way, Walking in This World, and Finding Water. Also a novelist, playwright, songwriter, and poet, she has multiple credits in theater, film and television.

I joined NMWIF to find a community of like-minded people who love to study and make media. It is a great network of information, resources, education, support and friendship!

— Barbara Bentree, Singer, Screenwriter, Director & Actor
