Mentor Mania 2017 is one of our most popular, sell-out events! Mentor Mania is like speed dating for actors!
In private, approx. 5 minute meetings, you will have one-on-one time with major New Mexico casting directors AND talent agents. This is an unprecedented opportunity, no matter where you are in your career. Last year, because of MM, a number of attendees got signed by agents.
NEW this year: We have instituted a modest fee so that this event can help NMWIF toward its financial goals. The fee for members is $40 and $50 for non-members, if any space remains. ANY NM acting workshop costs easily twice as much, and cannot offer the exposure and access to the film/TV decision-makers that Mentor Mania does.
Registration for members will open on November 1st . If any spots still remain, we will open it to non-members on November 12th. Registration will close on Friday, November 17th.
SCHEDULED to be MENTORS this year, as of now: (Subject to change)
- JoEdna Boldin, casting director
- Faith Hibbs-Clark, casting director
- Kathryn Brink, casting director
- Carissa Mitchell of Mitchell and Associates
- Lynette O’Connor of the O Agency
- Tina Presley of Presley Talent
Once again, we will be hosted by past president Linda McDill and Stu Goswick.
NMWIF Screnwriters Group
The NMWIF Screenwriters Group is a collection of writers & actors who meet every other week to read and give feedback on new work. For writers in every stage of development and for actors wanting to sharpen their reading skills. You do not have to be an NMWIF member to join.
The New Mexico Women In Film ABQ Screenwriter's group is creating accountability groups for both feature and TV writers. We will be reading 10 pages from features at one meeting and 10 pages from TV scripts at the next. The feature writers will be meeting this coming Monday, Oct. 23 and the TV writers the next meeting which will be November 6th. We are looking for actors who will stay with the writers through the development of their scripts. This gives the actor the opportunity to build on their character as the story progresses. It also prevents the writer from having to explain what happened in the previous 10 pages. Once we get through each script there could be an opportunity for the actor to work on the film. Depending on if the writer decides to shoot it themselves or not. This is a long term commitment. With features from 90-120 pages we would like the actor to come once a month for 9 months to a year. 10 pages per read divided by 120 pages equals 12 months. For TV writers the commitment is less. A 45-60 page script divided by 10 pages equals a 4.5-6 month commitment.
If you are interested in working with a writer on their script please contact James Charleston, email@example.com with your headshot and resume.
